ADVERTISEMENT FOR THE POSITION OF PSYCHOLOGICAL COUNSELLOR

ON AN AD HOC BASIS

Applications are invited to fill up purely temporary positions of Psychological Counsellor
(male) at this Institute for a period of 11 months.

A candidate with the following qualifications will be considered:

1. Name of the Position: Psychological Counsellor.

2. No. of Positions to be filled: One (01) (Tentative subject to change).

3. Age: Preferably not exceeding 40 years on the date of the Interview.

4. Educational Qualifications & Experience:

Essential:

a) Master in Clinical Psychology /Counselling Psychology with a percentage of

minimum 60%.

b) 02 years’ relevant experience in counseling late adolescents and adults in an

Academic Institution/ hospital setting or any other mental health clinic.

c) Additional Qualification: Administrative experience in establishing, and managing

Counselling services, document keeping, & MS Office.

d) The candidate should have excellent communication skill.

Desirable:
a) An experience in counseling students in Academic institutions full-time or part-time.

b) Have been conducting workshops/knowledge-based sessions.


Note: Relevant experience is defined as psychological counseling experience in a mental

health clinic or Educational Institution wherein individual counseling, as well as group
counseling, has been provided for adolescents.


5. Job Description:

a) The counselor would render counseling service to all the students as required and

be available to staff and faculty of IIT Hyderabad.


b) The counselor would be the point of contact for students if they require

interpersonal/emotional counseling.

c) He must be comfortable working with students from a variety of social and economic

backgrounds.

d) He must be available after office hours in case of any emergencies.

e) He must be available for weekend duties (to attend to emergency cases) on a

rotational basis.

f) The counselor will maintain confidentiality but report to Dean Student affairs of any

extreme cases that demand Institute/ family intervention.

g) The counselor shall help students to develop an interpersonal/emotional support

system.

h) The counselor shall conduct workshops, talks, and group discussions from time to

time to help students with their academic, interpersonal, and emotional needs.

6. Consolidated Pay: Rs. 40,000/- (Rupees Forty Thousand only) per month.

7. Tenure: Contract for a period of 11 months. However, the selected candidate

can be re-engaged for subsequent terms based on his/her performance and the
requirement of the Institute. The appointment will be on an ad hoc basis and can
be terminated at any time during the contract period with one month’s notice from
either side.


8. Mode of selection: Written Test and/or Interview.

Selection will be based on an entrance test and/or interview and only the
shortlisted candidates will be intimated well in advance of the date and time of
the interview.


9. Place of Interview: - Academic Blocks, Kandi Campus, Indian Institute of

Technology Hyderabad.

10. Closing Date for applications: Candidates fulfilling the above criteria may

will be informed by email to appear for the written test and / or Interview. The

11. GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS:


a) Candidates should satisfy themselves, before appearing for the written test/Interview

that they possess at least the minimum essential qualifications, knowledge, and
experience as laid down in the advertisement.

b) The appointment shall be purely temporary initially for eleven (11) months. The tenure
may be extended further based on performance and requirements.

c) Accordingly, no right/claim whatsoever will confer on the selected candidate(s) for
employment in IITH by virtue of the above temporary engagement.


d) The selected candidate must stay on campus. Campus residential
accommodation will be provided in Married Student Housing (MSH) in IITH for
the selected candidate.

e) The Institute reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates for the interview
to a reasonable limit on the basis of qualifications, level and relevance of experience
higher than the minimum prescribed in the advertisement and other academic
achievements. The Institute also reserves the right of rejecting any or all the
applications without assigning any reasons therefore.

f) The eligibility of the candidate in terms of qualifications/ experience, etc. shall be
considered as on the date of the written test/interview.

g) Interim correspondence will not be entertained and replied to. Canvassing in any form
whether directly or indirectly shall amount to a rejection of candidature.

h) Educational qualifications prescribed in this advertisement must have been obtained
from a recognized Board/Council/University/Institute.

i) Engagement of the selected candidate(s) will be subject to necessary pre-
engagement formalities viz document/certificate/testimonial checking, submission of
required document/certificate/testimonial, and medical fitness certificate etc.

j) Candidate(s) working in any organization, if selected, has to submit a release/relieving
letter, in original, from the present employer at the time of joining.

k) The selected candidates(s) will be liable to be placed in any location as deemed fit
by the Competent Authority.


l) No TA/DA will be paid to the candidates appearing for the Written Test and/or
Interview and to the selected candidate to join the post.

m) No medical facilities except out-patient treatment during a medical emergency will be
provided by the Institute to the selected candidate. No reimbursement of medical
expenses will be admissible to him/her during his/her engagement at the Institute.

n) In addition to the above, any other terms & conditions/ rules & regulations/ policy &
procedures will also be applicable for the ad hoc engagements as existing from time
to time.
